This week we talked about text mining, topic modeling and network analysis and how we might look to incorporate these ideas into our websites/projects. Additionally, the chapter that we read this week focused on catering to the community that will be observing your site and how to acquire the most ‘hits’. For our project specifically, the most interesting part of our website will be the map that we are creating to show where all of the soldiers are buried. In order to get the most ‘hits’ on our site, it might be beneficial to incorporate links to the NPS websites so that visitors can see that the two sites and projects are intertwined. Although the NPS might not directly link to our site, yay governmental red tape, it would still be helpful to show the significance of the project that way.
Even if you can’t get the NPS to link to your site, there may be tags and phrases that you could add thay could pull in a decent amount of interest. That way if someone just does a general google search then your site could still pop up.
